M&S Collection Day raises almost £400
Our lovely guests and volunteers were invited in to M&S Chineham for a day to raise awareness and collect money for The Pink Place. The day raised £395 for our charity. Thanks to Kathy for organising and to all for taking part.
Pink Place to go Green!
Lynx Forecourt have donated £250 of Garden Vouchers to The Pink Place for use in their outdoor area at the back. This area is planned to be a relaxing space for our guests next year.
Dragonfly Catwalk and Clothing Show raises over £1200
Our popular Clothing Show was a sell out this year with 100 people attending the event at the Holiday Inn. Guests and volunteers enjoyed modelling a range of clothing from high street stores and had great encouragement from all there. People were then given the opportunity to try and buy the clothes on the night at massive discounts. Thanks to everyone who took part and supported the event. We made a profit of over £1200.
At the beginning of September we held our latest Treats Day. We had some fantastic speakers - Gregor from florist Nicci-G's gave us an interesting and fun demonstration, this was followed by Kim who's talk on bra fitting was much appreciated. M&S Chineham provided some food for a lovely light lunch. Next came Bhupinder from Ghatahora Photograpy with a facinating talk presentation of how her career developed and the day ended with Sara from Sanctuary Beauty doing an informative talk and demonstration on make-up. Thank you to all those who contributed to a great day for our guests. Our next Treats Day will be in the new year.
On August 12th we held our first Drop-In Coffee Morning. A team of wonderful olunteers manned the kettle and baked cakes for us! The event was attended by 12 guests who enjoyed the refreshements and the chance to mix with others and make new friends. Following a survey of the guests, we are going to hold this event monthly from now on. Helen of A Basing Bakes kindly baked us a gluten free cake for the Coffee Morning and the event was made possible by a grant from the Bsingstoke and Deane Council Have Your Say Awards.
Summer Picnic Raises £3,500
Around 500 people enjoyed a day of music, stalls, sports cars and entertainment at Manydown Farm. The excellent bands provided live performances throughout the day. Volunteers from Thermo Fisher Scientific, Irwin Mitchell Solicitors and our own Pink Place supporters helped man the stalls and ensure the day ran smoothly. Thanks to Champion Group we were able to present the winner of our raffle with a brand new IPAD Air !
BCOT students raise £744.98 !
First Year Hospitatlity Students at BCOT raised £744.98 for The Pink Place by hosting a Pink Night with 3 course dinner. The food and service was exceptional, many thanks go to the students and their teachers.
On May 2nd Pink Place volunteers descended on Sainsbury's Superstore in Kempshott and helped bag-pack and raise awareness for our charity. Thanks to our supporters and the generous customers, we raised £872 ! Many thanks go to Daryl Copper, Jason Elton and the staff at Sainsbury's for allowing us to hold this event.
The Annual Hospital Cake Sale raised £531.50 - the highest sum yet! Our wonderful volunteer bakers did us proud with the hundreds of cakes made for the event. The sale was well supported by hospital staff and the general pubic. Thank you also to our volunteers who manned the stand and sported Easter Bonnets, it was a fun event.
Trusees took part in a Strategy Planning Day recently to consider how best to move forward with The Pink Place. Our new premises has opened up many opportunities and as the charity grows we need to plan and manage this growth responsibly. Sian Perham acted as facilitator for the meeting to ensure we had a productive time.
Latest news - we are trialling a Tuesday Pink Place session running twice monthly from March 2015. This session will be free for guests with any cancer from diagnosis to within 2 years after the end of treatment.
