We are delighted to announce that from January 2014, The Pink Place will be joining the Basingstoke and Winchester Hospitals wig scheme. This allows cancer patients up to £100 towards wigs at The Pink Place. The Wonderful Wigs service at The Pink Place stock an extensive range of quality wigs to suit all budgets and offer a price promise to all customers to get them the best price. Any profit from sales goes straight to The Pink place to help fund sessions for future guests.
Congratulations to Taylor's Hair and Beauty Salon for winning the Business in the Community Award at the Inspire Business Awards 2013. Janis Taylor, owner of Taylor's and co-founder of The Pink Place has allowed The Pink Place to use the premises for its Pink Place sessions on Mondays since 2010. Thank you Janis and wel done to all at Taylor's.
Thank you to everyone who shopped in ASDA Brighton Hill and voted for The Pink PLace with their green tokens. The ASDA Community Life Champion , Julie Gary presented The Pink Place with a cheque for £200. Kathy Williams accepted the cheque on behalf of The Pink Place.
The Pink Place has taken over Rotation Charity Shop in Whitchurch 8-15 November. With the generosity of its supporters in donating items and their time in manning the shop, The Pink Place charity Shop is up and running! Do go along and visit!
Basingstoke Volunteer Services held their Celebration of Volunteers evening in October. The event was attended by the Mayor, Cllr Dan Putty and is an annual event to celebrate exceptional people or teams of people who volunteer in the community. The Pink Place nominated its Session Volunteers Team for the award with Pam Monger, who also runs our Lunch Club, representing the team. Our session volunteers provise complementary and beauty therapies, counselling, refreshments, and general duties on a rota basis for our Monday sessions. We really could not function without the dedication and services of these selfless individuals. Well done to you all.
Mayoress of Basingstoke visits The Pink Place
Julie Putty, Mayoress of Basingstoke visited The Pink Place to experience one of our Pink Place sessions. The Mayoress met and talked to guests as they enjoyed hair services, massage and beauty treatments at the session and also talked to our wonderful therapists and helpers who volunteer for the charity.
We have received notification from The Charity Commission that we are now a registered charity! Our charity number is 1153494. To celebrate we held a party at The Pink Place with everyone asked to wear something pink. The Mayor of Basingstoke, Cllr Dan Putty paid us a visit to congratulate us. We were also delighted that Martin, Nick and Andrew Dingwall joined Janis Taylor, trustees and volunteers in the celebrations. Julia Dingwall and Janis co-founded The Pink Place in 2010.
The Pink Place were delighted to receive a grant from "Helping Hands" of Tadley for £2,000 towards the creation and fitting out of a beauty room at the planned new Pink PLace premises. We can't wait to get it started! Many thanks to Helping Hands of Tadley.
New premises! We have just had our offer on the lease of a town centre property accepted! We now need plumbers, builders, electricians, plasterers, carpetners, partitioners and decorators to help us get the property up and running.
This has been our vision - to have our own premises where we can open more often and open up to help people with all forms of cancer. We are very excited and need YOUR help to find tradespeople to help us.
We also need a solicitor to help us with the legal side of moving to new premises. If you can help then please get in touch.
